Autumn (Halloween) 2019
After an hour alone in an empty classroom,
you start to feel heavy.
You can hear breathing that is not
quite matched up with your own,
An echo, a heartbeat
coming from the steady, silent walls.
Are the moving? Pulsing?
They’re undulating, slowly, sickeningly transparent.
You can see the bones of the beast;
a ribcage beneath the paint and posters
of a monster that once was
beginning to be again.
